Ava's volcano wouldn't erupt. She stared at the table, then at the clock. The judges were two booths away. "Did you add the vinegar?" whispered her partner, Ben. "Yes! Twice!" Ben sniffed the cup. "This is water," he said slowly. They both laughed. Ava grabbed the right bottle and poured it in, and red foam bubbled over the top just as the judges arrived.
