There are eight planets in our solar system. Mercury is the closest to the Sun, and Neptune is the farthest. Venus is the hottest planet, because its thick clouds trap heat. Jupiter is the largest: more than 1,300 Earths could fit inside it. Saturn is famous for its bright rings, which are made of ice and rock. Mars is called the Red Planet, because its soil is full of rusty iron dust.
